A Brave New World
I just received this email. Pretty scary stuff. At least when you report something to the “real” police you give some details and can be prosecuted for providing a false report. Not the case with the terrorist hotline. Got a gripe with someone? Just ring up and make an anonymous false claim.
Slowly but surely your civil liberties are eroded away. Then one day a political activist, someone you know, is whisked away by the government, held in secret without charge. Tortured perhaps killed. It happens in other countries. The laws were written with good intentions, so long as the right people were in power.
