Brendan Nelson Hyprocrecy

Here is Brendon Nelson arguing that the Baby bonus his government instituted shouldn’t be given directly to aboriginal families.

Baby Bonus ‘like human tornado’

“I don’t care if I’m accused of being patronising.”

“When you have four or five thousand dollars turn up into an impoverished community which is dysfunctional in every way, shape and form, it has a devastating impact.”

What a fucking hypocrite. The biggest criticism of ALL of the Howard governments one off payments was that people would spend all the money on shit and not on the children. People going out and buying plasma TV’s and finishing off their extensions.

Beasley came out and suggested the payments be spread out over time and he was slammed by Brendon Nelsons government for patronising voters and treating them like children who can’t control their own money.

So it’s only OK to treat aboriginal parents like children then is it?

Christian Voters

I heard an interesting thing on the radio this morning. Why do Christian voters in particular from pentecostal / charismatic churches support the most socially unjust parties? Just look democracy in the US, I hope we don’t go that way.

I think its about sex and abortion.

Its them that are sick. Obsessed with what people are doing in there bedrooms instead of social justice which is what it should be all about.

Is it going to rain on the weekend?

Since I’m filling the tubes with my opinions heres another one. Why are global warming skeptics treated like heretics? Just because something is now popular opinion doesn’t mean it’s correct. If you’re caught in a group saying your not so sure that global warming is happening people look away and shake their heads.

These people aren’t climatologists. I’m not a climatologist thats why I’m don’t know either way whether or not the globe is warming or if we are the cause of it. Since when is being skeptical such a bad thing? And its not like its a closed book issue either. I could spend all day reading about global warming from other people on the internet without credabillity and I still wouldn’t know the truth. I might go watch some global warming videos on YouTube. “Global Warming”, “Global Warming Demystified”, “Global Warming Demystified Debunked”. I’m starting to loose track of who is debunking who.

Even if you listen to climatologists heaps of them disagree and how can we expect any of them to predict the future of the global weather when no one can predict the weather in more the 3 days time?

Don’t get me wrong I am glad people are concerned about global warming. Not because of global warming but because it’s a good thing for the environment. To be honest I think global warming probably is happening but thats just a gut feeling all I have to base it on is un-credible spin.

So please don’t look down on me for not jumping on the global warming bandwagon and don’t preach to me about global warming unless you have some sort of background in the field.

A Brave New World

I just received this email. Pretty scary stuff. At least when you report something to the “real” police you give some details and can be prosecuted for providing a false report. Not the case with the terrorist hotline. Got a gripe with someone? Just ring up and make an anonymous false claim.

Slowly but surely your civil liberties are eroded away. Then one day a political activist, someone you know, is whisked away by the government, held in secret without charge. Tortured perhaps killed. It happens in other countries. The laws were written with good intentions, so long as the right people were in power.

And now the email

Night of Bush Capturing

Night Of Bush Capturing

Yesterday I was reading SMH online and came across an article on a War on Terror board game. ( SMH Article )

What was most interesting though was the mention of a computer game called Night of Bush Capturing. It is a first person shooter where you infiltrate an American base, kill lots of soldiers and finish up with a gun battle versus the man himself George W Bush in the final level. It was released by The Global Islamic Media Front.

Now a quick Google on this game comes up with lots of outraged commentary. People are very upset about this game. They are claiming it is spreading terrorism, calling for it to be banned, etc. A lot of people can’t believe this can be allowed it is an absolute disgrace!

A bit more digging though and you find out that the game is a simple mod of a 2003 game called “Quest for Saddam” it is in fact almost the same game with the propaganda reversed. They didn’t even change much. They just changed the textures of the enemies from Iraqis to Americans put in some Jihadist music and were done.

This is a description of the game: Budget first-person shooter, featuring Iraq’s ex-leader as the target of the player’s aggression. Armed with an arsenal of weapons and a coalation of comical characters, players fight their way through a variety of missions until they face the ultimate end boss: Saddam Hussein himself. In addition to public enemy #1 in the flesh, the game features plenty of Saddam posters, paintings and statues to shoot at. Marketed and sold over the web. Because of its subject matter, the low-tech shooter was promoted on FOX News, CNN, MSNBC, and TechTV and is the self-proclaimed “#1 game of the year”.( http://www.gamestats.com/objects/629/629545/ )

Reading the commentary on this game just makes me laugh people love it! That is what I call hypocrisy. I downloaded Night of Bush Capturing. It is pretty budget but fun to play none the less. That is probably because it is so controversial though :)
